MUNICH PAYS TRIBUTE TO MAMA AFRICA!
“THE AFRICAN RENAISSANCE”
The Munich Volkshochschule is focussing its winter programme (07.10.2013-26.02.2014) on Subsaharan Africa. The programme, entitled “AFRICAN AWAKENING”, will be dedicated to making the public aware of Africa´s invaluable cultural treasures and the social possibilities and economic opportunities inherent in African societies today.
In addition to the large variety of speeches and podium discussions led by experts, there will be a plethora of african film screenings and readings from african literature. Internationally renowned contemporary african art fairs, which exhibit the impressive diversity and dynamism of the african art scene such as the Joburg art fair in Johannesburg, South Africa and the Dak´art Fair in Dakar, Senegal will also be presented to the public in cooperation with the Munich Ethnological Museum.
There will even be language courses on offer. Don´t miss the opportunity to brush up on your Swahili or expand your personal repertoire of african dishes in the numerous cookery classes in the programme.
